what do you think causes autism? i’ve heard many different opinions on if it is environmental, caused by vaccines or is genetic. what do you think causes it? also, why do so many kids have autism nowadays? i am 23 and i dont hear as many people my age having it. and is there any genetic testing a person can do to see if they are more likely to have a child with autism?
I have heard all those different opinions myself. I did a ton of research to figure it all out. In the end my children no longer have autism. The answer is so unbelievable that when I tell people that have never really looked into it, they just laugh. But, I got my answers from parents and doctors who are successful at reversing autism symptoms, and now my kids no longer have it. Thus, I spread the news. The answer is kind of complicated because it’s kind of a multi-part cause, but definitely pathogens and toxins. The cause is fried immune system, most commonly from lyme and mercury. The burned out CD 57 t-cells allow for a stock-piling of numerous pathogens and toxins and a body to sick to react sick, thus gets chronic symptoms instead from swelling of the capillaries cutting off oxygen supply to the brain and other organs, sometimes totally causing SIDS, but usually partially, causing a person to feel and act in a fog. Belive it or not. But, the bottom line is, my kids no longer have those symptoms. Thus, my best advice to anyone and everyone, listen to the successful parents and doctors and do NOT listen to those who have not recovered children from autism, no matter what education they have.

I think it’s due to congenital defects that accrue with the age of the parents due to chromosomal damage. There is likely no more incidence of autism today than there was 50 years ago. But what’s happened is that diagnosis is better, so while the number of kids just labeled generic "retarded" has gone down, the number diagnosed with autism has gone up. Plus kids with Asperger’s disease (part of the autism spectrum) might have gone undiagnosed at all before, and now they’re being counted. It’s been proven that vaccines have no effect on rates of autism, but it is a myth that will not die. There are I believe some preliminary tests for autism in the experimental phase right now–but that’s for kids already diagnosed as autistic. There’s no blood test to see if you are more likley to have an autistic child. However, to a certain extent it runs in families so autistic relatives increase your chances of having a child with autism. They’ve found certain chromosomal abnormalities, and different abnormalities in different places cause different types of autism–they’re also breaking down autism into types, rather than just lumping all together, with one type being kids with very visual memories, others with a mathematical emphasis, others with ear and hearing issues, etc.

At this point I don’t believe one would be wrong if they said "All of the above".
I believe the environment may factor in, I believe mercury in vaccines may factor in and I believe that genetics is an under-estimated component.
Autism, as a result of genetics, undiagnosed will only increase as it is passed down generations. Fragile X is a prime example of that. It was once believed that 1 in 259 females were carriers of the gene, a more recent study of over 40,000 females indicates 1 in 130 females are carriers. In a study in Israel, 1 in 113 females were carriers. I don’t know about you, but these numbers tell me something.
Fragile X can be tested for through the FMR1 DNA test, also known as Southern Blot with PCR Analysis. There is a new study underway with a new test, that is more cost-effective which may enable them to perform newborn screening which is being studied at this time.
In time, as a result of research they may find specific genes related strictly to autism, what one may be able to test for may change.
As with any developmental disability, early intervention is the key.
