The general public often doesn’t realize what parents of autistic children are keenly aware of: It is a physical condition as much as a mental one. Research shows that more than 50 percent of autistic children have gastrointestinal problems such as Crohns Disease or colitis. Some scientists theorize that autism begins in the gut, with the gastrointestinal walls being damaged and allowing toxins to leak into the bloodstream and affect brain activity.

For this reason, parents of children with autism must monitor not just their children’s behavior but their eating habits, too. In particular, products containing gluten (found in wheat, barley and rye) and casein (found in dairy products) seem to exacerbate autism symptoms, apparently because the person’s body cannot digest them properly and the incompletely digested (and therefore poisonous) proteins are leaking into the circulatory system.

A gluten-free, casein-free diet, known as GFCF, has become very popular among parents of autistic children. Some members of the medical community continue to be skeptical of it, but other doctors and organizations — including those working with Defeat Autism Now (DAN) — wholeheartedly support the GFCF diet.

Many parents report remarkable improvements in their autistic children after removing gluten and casein from their diets. They find their children having longer attention spans, making better eye contact and in general behaving less aggressively and more “normally.”

The difficult part is implementing the diet. Cereals and dairy products comprise a major part of the typical American diet. People with gluten allergies already know how hard it is to find gluten-free products; adding dairy to the list of prohibited items makes it that much more inconvenient.

In addition, many autistic children will latch on to particular foods they like and refuse to eat anything else. Since so many foods have gluten or casein, chances are good that something on your child’s “favorites” list will be an offender. Also, because gluten and casein foods act as opiates, autistic children may crave them in particular — the very foods that are doing them the most harm!

So weaning your child off these foods can be difficult. To start with, many parents find it best to eliminate dairy. A lot of people are lactose-intolerant, after all, and dairy products don’t make up nearly as big a part of most people’s diets as gluten products do. It’s fairly easy to replace casein foods with other things.

Gluten is trickier. Not only is it in a lot of foods, but even foods that don’t have it are often contaminated with it, due to having been processed in the same facilities. You’ll need to examine ingredients lists carefully, and check with the manufacturer directly if you’re in doubt.

Often, parents say their autistic children won’t eat anything else, and they worry they’ll go hungry if these foods are taken away. It is necessary to be loving but firm, and not to give in if your child behaves badly in response to having his or her favorite foods taken off the menu. Within a few weeks, you’ll probably see a change in your child’s behavior, and you may be surprised at what he or she will eat that previously was unacceptable.

How much do you think it will cost?

How much does it cost for surgery?

Do you think the cure will take affect within 1 to 5 days and be cured?

I have the cure for most autism. If someone splits your head open with a hammer what do you do? Go get medical treatment, correct? Various treatments may be indicated depending on who you go to and the seriousness of the injury. You may or may not be healed by these treatments. The best thing to do is avoid getting hit in the head. That is the cure for autism, stop injuring the brains and nervous systems of infants with unneeded vaccinations to the child and the pregnant mother. The best that can be done by UCLA is a treatment that may or may not restore the person to health. PS-there are already biomedical treatments that work.

My son is 20 months old. The symptoms that fit on the autism spectrum are that he speaks no words but can hear fine, he flaps his hands when frustrated, and frequent tantrums. But what doesn’t fit is that he is very social, makes a few gestures, and plays with other children appropriately. They say he is probably on the spectrum. But I’m wondering if there are other disorders with similar symptoms. Any help would be great!

If you take your son to a DAN (defeat autism now) doctor, you will find that having some symptoms means they have the same pathogens and toxins as those with autism. Most with autism also have symptoms of Bipolar, ADHD, OCD, etc. There is a blurring of lines here. When these children are treated, not only are autism symptoms rid, but also these symptoms of other diagnoses, and even asthma and diabetes and epilepsy. The autism epidemic has opened the eyes of many that all kinds of diagnoses we thought had no known cause or cure, are really just from pathogens and toxins.

I’ve never had any problems with my kids and the vaccinations they’ve received. But I hear so much about autism and how dramatically it has increased in the last ten years. What can you tell me about mercury as a vaccine additive? Is it still used? Why do some kids "contract" autism? Is it because of the vaccines? If so, what determines who will become autistic and who will not? If not, what other reasons might cause it? What are some good resources for me to check out on the subject?

First, I’d like to challenge the notion of a "dramatic increase" of autism.

Different Definition, different diagnosis rate: 20 years ago, when you said "autism" you were refering to the full-blown or "strict" autism. (Rocking, head banging, little or no speach) The rate of "strict autism" hasn’t changed nearly as much as the sensational stats you hear about. Now we know about a mild form of autism called Asperger’s. Not only do we have a lot of kids diagnosed as Asperger’s (classified under autism) but many adults are being diagnosed. Many people suspect Bill Gates is autistic. Some suspect Thomas Jefferson & Albert Einstein were both Asperger’s.

As for vaccinations, they USED TO contain a mercury type preservative called thimerosal. They stopped putting thimerosal in children’s vaccines around the year 2000. The last lots of vaccines which contain thimerosal as a preservative expired by early 2003.

CAUSES:
There is a significant genetic factor in autism. This is evident in twin studies. If one identical twin is autistic, the second one has an 80% chance of being on the autistic spectrum. If the child isn’t autistic, she is likely to have some traits, just not enough to be classified autistic. Yet with faternal twins, if one twin is autistic, the 2nd twin is no more likely to be autistic than a sibling born 10 years later! (4%)

They believe it isn’t just one gene involved. It seems to be several genes that "collide" in one person to make then vunerable to autism.

It’s not 100% genetic. If it was, then if one identical twin is autistic, the second one would ALWAYS be autistic.

what do you think causes autism? i’ve heard many different opinions on if it is environmental, caused by vaccines or is genetic. what do you think causes it? also, why do so many kids have autism nowadays? i am 23 and i dont hear as many people my age having it. and is there any genetic testing a person can do to see if they are more likely to have a child with autism?

I have heard all those different opinions myself. I did a ton of research to figure it all out. In the end my children no longer have autism. The answer is so unbelievable that when I tell people that have never really looked into it, they just laugh. But, I got my answers from parents and doctors who are successful at reversing autism symptoms, and now my kids no longer have it. Thus, I spread the news. The answer is kind of complicated because it’s kind of a multi-part cause, but definitely pathogens and toxins. The cause is fried immune system, most commonly from lyme and mercury. The burned out CD 57 t-cells allow for a stock-piling of numerous pathogens and toxins and a body to sick to react sick, thus gets chronic symptoms instead from swelling of the capillaries cutting off oxygen supply to the brain and other organs, sometimes totally causing SIDS, but usually partially, causing a person to feel and act in a fog. Belive it or not. But, the bottom line is, my kids no longer have those symptoms. Thus, my best advice to anyone and everyone, listen to the successful parents and doctors and do NOT listen to those who have not recovered children from autism, no matter what education they have.

Just wondering if it is possible to notice symptoms of autism when your child is a few months old or when it can be diagnosed. What are the signs? I’ve seem a bit about it on the news recently and it has me interested. Thanks.
My son doesn’t seem to have any symptoms, but I’ve heard they can develop later. When does that happen if it does? What should I look for?

Google autism for more specific answers.

Your child has to really be interacting before you can see signs of autism. Generally there is a disconnect there, no smiling, lack of eye contact, not loving towards parents. At a couple months, you really can’t tell this, newborns don’t do very much.

I have a son who’s almost 2 months old, and he is scheduled to receive his first vaccines on May 9. I have heard that there’s a possible link between vaccines and autism. Is there any truth to this? Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks!

There is no proof that vaccines are responsible for the decline in certain diseases – improved sanitation, medical care and less crowding may also have contributed to the decline in certain diseases. Most diseases decreased by over 95% BEFORE the introduction of vaccines.
Vaccines have not been tested for any possible carcinogenic (cancer causing), teratogenic (gene altering) effects or their effects on the reproductive system (it says this right in the product inserts from the manufacturers).
Many of the vaccines are not needed. Also they are not safe. There are still many vaccines that have thimerosal (doctors were not required to get rid of any stock they had, and could still have some). Vaccines are not tested for carcinogenic potential. So it is possible that they could cause cancer. Formaldehyde is in many childhood vaccines and some are made from aborted fetal cells. GROSS! I know that there are risks of not vaccinating, but there are also some scary risks associated with vaccinating. Honestly, I know that people say the risks of having a bad reaction are low, but do you want to take the chance of your child having a bad reaction. Also, I have been looking at each individual vaccine and the need. Hepatitis A, is not needed either, many times children can have it without symptoms, and then they are immune for life (that is more than a vaccine can do). Mumps are usually asymptomatic, so this vaccine is not always necessary. Diptheria can be cured with an antibiotic. Measels used to be a normal childhood disease, adn people gained lifetime immunity. Vaccinations do not give lifetime immunity. That is why people have to get booster shots… If you are torn and need more time to think about it, delay the vaccines and you can always get them later. But you will NEVER be able to take them back. Here are the exemptions for each state:

i work at a daycare, and we think that a 2 year old boy who we take care of may have autism. he barely talks at all, and he spends most of his time laying on the ground playing by himself rather than interacting with the other children. i would like to know if these are signs of autism, and what the other common symptoms are.

At age two, signs of autism include: in the area of communication: language delay, lack of gestures such as waving "bye bye" and pointing, not responding to his name; in the area of socialization: lack of eye contact, preferring to play alone or playing inappropriately compared to other toddlers, seeming uninterested in others and their activities; in the area of play: repetitive play, sensory issues (putting his hands over his ears), playing with the same toys all the time, no pretend play.

These are just a few things. Some children with autism don’t do any of these things, some do them, but inconsistently. Please refer the parent for assessment if you aren’t sure. Sometimes, it can be hard to figure out, but the sooner, the better. Sometimes, the psychologist will want to come and observe at the daycare also. Good for you guys for being concerned.

Autism is one of the many ways people can be. It is not a disease any more than being tall or short or black or white is a disease. It is true that autistics have various difficulties in life, but these difficulties can be addressed without thinking of autism as a "disease" to be "cured". As human consciousness evolves past its current tipping points, autism is an experiment that will generate certain traits that will be necessary to our survival. Not every experiment is successful, and not all traits will be beneficial. But this is no time to abort the experiemnt by trying to "cure" autism.
